December Update

Happy Holiday Season from the Vipers! Every team celebrated their holiday parties this past week. Most teams had a holiday-themed practice with competitive games, and some teams had a gift swap after practice! During off-ice the teams had a break from their normal strength and conditioning program and took part in obstacle courses and capture the flag. Coming up after the holidays a few of our teams are competing in the Islanders Holiday Tournament, which is being hosted at BIC! The tournament is scheduled for the week between Christmas and New Years, Good luck girls!!

Below are some highlights from each team during the month of December:

U10 Red: The U10 team started the 2nd half of our season against a new opponent in Amherst and had a good showing. We started a little slowly after the long Thanksgiving holiday break, but by the end of the 1st period got back into a good rhythm and led 2-0. The game finished 4-1, with Halle Howell playing a great full game in net, only letting in one goal late in the 3rd period. Our goals were scored by Evy Kealty (assisted by Mattea Mendonca), Rylee Lynch (assisted by Evy Kealty), Milania Aylward (assisted by Rylee Lynch and Joey Fogg), and Mallory McDermott (assisted by Charlotte Wooster).

U12 Red: Satisfying win for 12-1 at Hooksett Sunday morning. Once again, short players, the team showed some versatility and grit while grinding out the 3-0 victory, avenging an earlier loss to the rival Ice Cats. Gianna Puccio, Olivia Polles and Sofia Cleary potted a goal each. Great passing and aggressive team defense helped Kendall Powers snag the solo shutout.

U12 White: Great back-and-forth game vs Assabet. Vipers goals by MaKenzie Dunnett, Jenna O’Donnell and Melania DiVirgilio had the game-tying goal.

U12 Blue: The team responded well with a long weekend of games. First, we started with a double header up in Maine, where we had two great games. The girls fought hard and came up just short. Both games were back and forth and anyone’s game at any time. Then Sunday was the best game the girls have played all season. Their positioning and hussle truly paid off. Every line and different players were involved in the scoring. A true team effort to get payback from the last game against Charles River. Again, another proud moment!

U13 Red: Fantastic all-around team effort. Riley St Arnaud pitched the complete game shutout while turning away multiple Assebett scoring opportunities. The Vipers flooded the scoresheet with multiple goals from Isabel Taddia and a Reese Robillard hat trick. Ryley Nugent returned to the lineup with a nice goal. Kailey Tinkham’s excellent playmaking ability earned her 4 apples. Defenseman Lauren Ryan, Lanie Dolph, and Maeve Grabert all played outstanding while logging a ton of minutes.

U13 White:  A very even back-and-forth game, and one of our better games at moving the puck and stretching the ice, especially by the line featuring Sera Cronan, who filled in at center for the second time this season. Kudos to the Islanders goaltender for turning away multiple quality scoring opportunities and keeping us off the board. We got great play from U12 Defensewoman Jordan Darrag, who contributed with several quality plays, and U12 goaltender Bridget Mahon, who kept us in it the entire game by turning away shot after shot! Bridget was also awarded this week’s Beast Mode belt by her 13-2 counterparts!

U14 Red: The team played an extremely competitive and hard-fought game vs the Islanders. They were rewarded for their play with a 2-1 W! Solid start to the winter schedule with tons of offensive opportunities, great work by the defense, and our goaltenders continue to turn shots and scoring opportunities away.

U14 White: A terrific battle back and forth game against a strong Eagles team. Gia Rizzuto made many highlight saves to keep us in the game while the offense produced a lot of scoring opportunities. Great team effort all around. Goal scored by Agatha Quinlan and Maddie Akashian with the lone assist.

Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season! #GoVipersGo
